How to Play TriPeaks Solitaire

TriPeaks places 28 cards into three connected peaks and leaves 24 cards in the stock. Only exposed cards can be played. A card is exposed when neither of the cards directly below it remains on the tableau.

Play an exposed card when it is one rank higher or lower than the waste card. Suit does not matter, and King and Ace wrap in both directions. Click a legal card, or click the stock to draw when no tableau move is available.

Consecutive tableau moves build a chain. The first card scores 1, the next consecutive card scores 2, then 3, and so on. Drawing from the stock resets the chain to zero.

TriPeaks rules

  • 28 tableau cards in three peaks.
  • 24-card stock; one pass, no redeal.
  • Only exposed cards can be played.
  • Play one rank higher or lower than the waste.
  • King and Ace wrap.
  • Chain points reset when you draw.
  • Clear all 28 tableau cards to win.

TriPeaks strategy

Look for a chain before you draw. A single move that opens two new cards can start a long sequence worth far more than a quick low-value play. Prefer moves that expose cards near the current waste rank.

Do not protect the chain at the cost of the board. If a draw is necessary to reach a buried card, take it; the chain resets, but the board remains the priority. Near the end, count the exposed cards and stock cards before choosing between a short chain and a finishing sequence.

Understanding TriPeaks chains

A TriPeaks chain rewards consecutive tableau moves. The first removal scores one point, the second consecutive removal scores two, and the third scores three. If you draw from the stock, the chain resets to zero. The chain is a bonus for keeping a sequence alive, not a reason to ignore a better board move.

Short chains are still useful. If a two-card chain opens the bottom row, it may be worth more than a longer chain that leaves the peaks blocked. Look at the cards underneath each exposed card before choosing the next step. A card that opens two new cards can be the start of a much larger chain.

The three peaks are connected by shared support cards. A card near the center can hold up cards in more than one peak, so removing it may open several options at once. Before taking a low-value pair, check whether an adjacent exposed card would clear a shared support card and open a wider section of the board.

Do not treat the score as a separate game from the clear condition. The score rewards chains, but only clearing all 28 tableau cards wins. If a short chain leaves you with a clear board, take it; a longer chain that blocks the last exposed card is not progress. Count the remaining tableau cards after every draw, especially below the 10-card bottom row.

The stock has 24 cards and only one pass. When no tableau move is available, drawing is necessary, but it resets the chain. Try to arrange the board so the stock card completes a new sequence rather than merely replacing a card you could have played. At the end of the deal, count the remaining exposed cards and stock cards before deciding whether to chase a chain or close the board.

TriPeaks Solitaire FAQ

What is TriPeaks Solitaire?

TriPeaks is a solitaire game with 28 tableau cards arranged in three peaks. You clear exposed cards by playing one rank higher or lower than the waste card.

How do the chain bonuses work?

Each consecutive tableau card adds another step to the chain. A chain of three moves scores 1 + 2 + 3 points. Drawing from the stock resets the chain.

Can a King be played on an Ace?

Yes in this version. King and Ace wrap in both directions, so the sequence can continue through the top and bottom of the rank order.

Which cards are available in TriPeaks?

A card is available when neither card directly beneath it is still in the tableau. Clearing the bottom row gradually opens the peaks above.

Can I redeal the stock?

No. This version uses one pass through the 24-card stock. Plan the chain before the stock runs out.
